World’s largest adventure race movement takes place in Betws-y-Coed on 12th May 2018

Quest Adventure Series will see keen racers from all corners of the world put their ability to the test; and run, cycle and kayak in one of Wales’ most iconic adventure locations. Quest adventure races have grown in popularity exponentially in Ireland since the first Quest event took place there in 2011. Over 10,000 competitors take part in Quest events each year. Quest came to the UK first in 2017 with its Quest Wales event.

Quest racers will start and finish their adventure in Betws-y-Coed village, taking them through the breath-taking Snowdonia National Park. There is a choice of 3 scenic routes for participants to choose from, the 25km ‘Challenge’, the 42km ‘Sport’ and the more strenuous 57km ‘Expert’. Kayaks are provided for all and bike rental is available.

For the first-time adventure racer there is little to fear, someone starting out with the 25km route would need a relative level of fitness and the ability to run 8-10km.

Quest has become famed not only for it’s challenging routes in epic locations but the camaraderie and community spirit to be found before, during and post-event. A great emphasis is placed on finishers, friends and family staying around to enjoy the celebrations whilst reliving and sharing memories from their day on the hills, mountains and lakes.

Finishers receive custom-made medals, Helly Hansen technical training tops, hot food and access to the famous Japanese hot tubs and recovery zone.

Event founder Oliver Kirwan said ‘We’re very excited to return to Wales with our one-day adventure race this year. We had amazing feedback on last year’s event and hope to build on that.  This ambition would have not become a reality without the valued support of our partners at Conwy Council and local stakeholders. We have a great following in Ireland already and we hope that people will fall in love with our events in the UK too. Adventure racing is more than just an event to train for and compete in, it’s a community and a lifestyle choice. When people do their first one you’ll often hear of them getting hooked, it just draws you in.’
