A new 50km (approx. 31 miles) running tour of Scotland’s capital city has been announced by Rat Race Adventure Sports.

The Ultra Tour of Edinburgh, set to be staged on Sunday 22 October, will be a fully waymarked and supported urban ultra marathon that will take in many of Edinburgh’s famous landmarks via parklands, footpaths, pavements and cycleways.

Starting at the Royal Mile, the mixed terrain route will take up to 500 runners through the streets and alleyways of the city centre and onto the hills and crags above the city. It will then finish inside Murrayfield Stadium, home to Scottish Rugby.

It will include 3000 feet of tough ascent and descent and will have a cut off of 10 hours. Entry for a solo runner is £99 with discounts if entering as part of a team.
