On 9th April Glasgow again hosted Red Bull’s open swim race, Neptune Steps. It’s not without good reason that this event is considered one of the toughest open water swims. Competitors must swim through 420 metres of cold water and climb over eight canal lock gates.

Undeterred by these obstacles, over two hundred athletes took up the challenge and completed the course. Here are a few photos from the event that show how the race pushed participants to their limits in a true test of speed, strength, and resolve.
