The battle to determine the best British boulderers takes place this weekend on 9-10 July in Sheffield and will also be available on livestream.

On 9-10 July, for the first time ever, the British Bouldering Championships (BBCs) will be a free-to-watch event in Sheffield’s city centre, with the action taking place on a 25-metre-high competition wall standing proud on Devonshire Green.

Around 100 climbers from around the country come will come to test their mettle in the qualifiers on the Saturday. Forty climbers will make it through to semi-finals on the Sunday and then six female and six male will get to test their strength on the final problems at 6.30pm that evening.

The BBCs, organised by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), determines which climbers make it to the national bouldering team.

Will Britain’s very own IFSC World Cup champ Shauna Coxsey be crowned number one yet again? Can multiple-times winner Dave Barrans win back the title after coming second to Tyler Landman last year? And let’s not forget the host of rising stars who will also be vying to make the podium such as Tara Hayes, Molly Thompson-Smith, William Bosi and many more.

“Sheffield city centre is the place to be this weekend – and if you can’t make it, make sure you watch online,” said BMC Competitions Officer Rob Adie. “If you’re new to climbing then I really urge you to join us for the all the excitement, adrenaline and awe-inspiring strength and grace of the boulderers.

If you can’t make the Championships you’ll still be able to watch them online via free livestream:
