True to its award-winning heritage, the Clifton 5 is light, cushy, and fast.

Central to its design is the famed HOKA ONE ONE® midsole geometry and a trusted foam package to ensure consistent cushioning through the life of the shoe.

Combined with the forgiving and adaptive forefoot, it’s a smooth ride.

The 5 has a clean, engineered mesh upper to optimise breathability and comfort.

It’s available from tomorrow, 21st June! For more information, please visit the website.

Can you explain the main upgrades that have been made to the Clifton 5 from its predecessor?

Compared its predecessor, Clifton 5 embeds a new pattern for its upper engineered mesh, improving strategically its performance.

The performance of the bottom-unit remains unchanged, as its compound and geometry are the same as with the Clifton 4.

How exactly does the new engineered mesh upper improve breathability and comfort?

The engineered mesh is of same nature as the one previously used on Clifton 4, still providing excellent comfort all around the foot.

The pattern designed on this engineered mesh has been revised from Clifton 4 to Clifton 5 to add more open-areas for enhanced breathability in key zones such as medial/lateral midfoot and throat.

In terms of technical detail, how does this new model remain true to the Clifton heritage?

With all the technology embedded in the midsole/outsole, providing an optimum balance of cushioning, versatility and dynamism, this bottom-unit is clearly aligned with Clifton heritage.

As for the upper, its overall simplicity yet with just what is needed in terms of technical details (open-areas of the engineered mesh and puff-print overlays around the collar for adaptive support) to provide the performance needed for your everyday trainer.

What type of runner will the Clifton 5 appeal to?

Since versatility is a clear asset of the Clifton 5, its potential range of users is wide.

It could be our best HOKA athletes, for who the Clifton 5 will be the go-to shoe for long runs and easy strides.

But Clifton 5 can also be the race-ready shoe for more casual runners and/or people used to train with more supportive shoes such as Bondi 6.

What’s your favourite Clifton 5 model for Fall ’18 and how do you select the different colourways each season?

My personal favorites for F18 are Caribbean Sea / Storm Blue, and Evening Primrose / Nine, since those are the most connected to HOKA colors.

This helps to keep in mind that Clifton 5 is one of our most iconic styles, combining simplicity and technical features for a perfect balance of performance and comfort.
