We introduces the Nike LunarEpic, a running shoe made for distance workouts

Put an end  to loose laces with these new running shoes that fit like a, er, sock. The LunarEpic build on Nike’s success with its Magista sock boots for football, and are designed to allow the foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit. The objective is a greater feeling of fluidity and of natural movement. There’s no tongue – the upper is a one-piece Nike Flyknit that fits snugly over the arch, heel and forefoot, while the mid-height collar grips the ankle. Flywire cables have been knitted into the fabric to strengthen the closeness of the fit. The sole unit is made from two heat-bonded foams, while the outsole features laser-cut “pistons” that mirror a pressure map of the foot, in order to deliver compression precisely matched to foot-strike. This first generation of Nike LunarEpic shoes are designed for distance workouts or recovery runs, rather than race day.
