The North Face Summit Series™ is back for FW17 with additional silhouettes to create a system of products to offer a solution to any mountain guide or athlete.

Taking the new Summit Series™ Ski Mountaineering Collection as an example, this system runs from the next-to-skin layers out, starting with the L1 baselayers that deliver targeted warmth; through to the L2 Proprius Grid Fleece Hoodie, L3 Proprius Primaloft® Hoodie and lightweight and packable L3 Propius Down Hoodie; completed by the L5 Proprius GTX® Active Jacket – all coming in an array of disruptive Mountain Colours, designed for better visibility and mountain safety.

In addition to the layering system, the product design behind the new range is based on a tiered philosophy, where each element is thought out to the minutest detail – all following the athlete tested, expedition proven mantra of the brand, with the collection recently taking trips to mountain ranges such as Kanchenjunga and Shishapangma, with Simone Moro and Tamara Lunger, and David Göttler and Hervé Barmasse respectively.

The primary feature of the new apparel is to carry only what is necessary, striking the optimum balance between safety and speed, whilst the selection of perfect materials for the job and the elimination of nonessential features, results in an ultra-light-weight, minimal and highly packable range of products designed for speed of movement on the mountain. Each item is designed with a kinetic alpine fit whilst remaining highly breathable to provide maximum comfort when you’re moving at a high tempo.

Durability, simplicity and minimalism are key to creating trust for fast approaches, technical climbs and hyper-steep ski descents.

The range is available now at and in selected The North Face retail store and the full system breakdown of products can be seen here.
