A new trail running shoe from Salewa, designed specifically for mountain terrain, gets tested by Paul Larkins

New to the scene  is this excellent lightweight but rugged shoe by Salewa that combines grip with performance. The first feel is of a shoe that has fell running at its heart thanks to a solid, but flexible construction. It’s definitely built for sharp climbs and descents, where the Michelin outsole has a sculpted and grooved design inspired by mountain biking tyres no less. Question is, do they work? And the short answer is yes, especially if your running is off-road in rugged surroundings where traction is key. There’s also a nice light breathable mesh – making this a comfortable shoe for the summer and autumn. So if you’re a racing machine with eyes on a great performance in the Lake District this summer, it’s time to get acquainted with the Salewa Lite Train.
