Runners who have an a ankle sprain could find that a spell on a wobble board fixes the problem.
New research into chronic ankle stability, published in the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, found marked improvements in static and dynamic balance after just a month of regular wobble board workouts.
A simple rehabilitation programme consisting of clock-wise and counter-clockwise rotations on a wobble board (three days a week for four weeks) improved functional stability, said the researchers.
“This approach provides a potentially more economical, time efficient, and space efficient means of improving clinical outcome measures associated with chronic ankle instability in patients who are physically active,” they concluded.
